Every believer is expected to know how to pray. Prayer is not just a religious routine, but a divine channel that strengthens our connection with our Maker and guarantees that we receive answers according to His will. Through prayer, destinies are shaped, battles are won, and divine direction is received. However, we must also recognise that there are hindrances that Satan cleverly uses to block or delay our prayers. He fears a praying Christian because he knows prayer brings heaven’s power to the earth. That is why he works hard to weaken or discourage prayer.

As believers, it is important to recognise these strategies of the enemy and take deliberate steps to overcome them through persistent and effective prayer.

🔹 What Prayer Does

Prayer is the believer’s lifeline. It is the cord that connects earth with heaven, drawing down divine wisdom, strength, and breakthrough. Without prayer, our faith weakens and our destiny suffers delay.

Prayer:

Satan’s greatest fear is a believer who knows how to pray. He resists prayers because he knows that answered prayer releases deliverance, healing, and breakthroughs.

  • Planting doubt and unbelief — He whispers lies that God will not answer (Genesis 3:1–5).

  • Tempting us into sin — Sin creates a wall between man and God (Isaiah 59:2).

  • Discouraging persistence — He makes us feel weary and give up before the answer arrives (Luke 18:1).

  • Filling life with distractions — He ensures busyness overshadows prayer.

🔹 How Prayer Hinders Satan (Our Steps)

Prayer is not just a defence; it is also an attack against the kingdom of darkness.

🔹 Daniel’s Example: Prayer vs Satan’s Resistance

In Daniel 10:13, we see how Daniel prayed and God answered him immediately. Yet, the prince of Persia (a demonic power) blocked the angel carrying his answer. For 21 days, Daniel kept praying until God sent Michael, another angel, to break the resistance.

Daniel teaches us that prayer must be persistent. If he had stopped praying after one day, his answer would have remained hanging. Persistence in prayer is what secures breakthroughs.

🔹 Prayer in the Home

  • Husbands: Pray for the sustainability of your home. Whether financial, spiritual, or career challenges arise, prayer is the key to defeating the devil.

  • Wives: Don’t be the loophole in your home. If your husband falters, prayer is what restores him — not fighting, nagging, or giving up. Hannah prayed, Esther prayed — every great woman in the Bible rose on the platform of prayer.

A prayerless home becomes vulnerable to satanic attacks, but a praying home becomes a fortress of victory.

🔹 Prayer and Destiny for Youth

Young people, don’t waste your strength on distractions. Prayer is an investment in your future. Jacob prayed, Daniel prayed, Elisha prayed, Job prayed, and even Jesus Himself prayed and fasted.

Your prayer life will determine the greatness of your destiny. Guard it by:

  • Choosing godly friends.

  • Avoiding environments that kill prayer fire.

  • Building discipline in secret prayer.

Procrastination is the enemy of time, and Satan uses it to rob people of destiny. Don’t let the devil hinder your prayers. Instead, let your prayers hinder the devil.
